About Trackers Earth

Trackers Earth is Portland's most beloved outdoor education program, offering camps that blend wilderness skills, nature connection, and imaginative adventure. Founded in 2004, they've spent two decades perfecting the art of getting kids outside and engaged with the natural world. Camps range from day programs at four Portland locations to overnight adventures at their 103-acre property in Sandy. Activities include archery, wilderness survival, rock climbing, fishing, blacksmithing, and immersive role-playing adventures. For teens seeking bigger challenges, Trackers offers expeditions to the Oregon Coast, Alaska, and even Belize.

Best For

Adventurous kids who love being outdoors and learning hands-on skills. Ideal for children who thrive with imaginative play, enjoy physical challenges, and are curious about the natural world. Great fit for kids who might find traditional classroom settings limiting—Trackers excels at engaging active learners through story-driven adventures and practical wilderness activities.

What Makes This Camp Special

  • 1Winner of PDX Parent's 'Best Camp' for 10 consecutive years
  • 2103-acre overnight camp property in Sandy with cabins and wilderness areas
  • 3International expeditions available for teens (Alaska, Belize, Kauai)
  • 4Unique blend of survival skills, nature education, and imaginative role-playing

Tips from Parents

  • Register early—popular sessions (especially archery and survival skills) fill up within hours of registration opening in January.
  • Pack extra clothes in a waterproof bag. Kids will get muddy, wet, and gloriously dirty. This is part of the experience!
  • Request the same session as friends during registration—Trackers groups kids together when possible, which helps with first-day nerves.
  • Check the packing list carefully. Some programs require specific gear like closed-toe shoes with ankle support for hiking camps.
  • Consider starting with day camps before overnight programs. The day camps give kids a taste of Trackers' style before committing to a week away from home.
